Chick-fil-A Announces Charity Race Sponsors

For the first time, the Chick-fil-A Race Series is coming to the Eastern Shore.  Hosted by Chick-fil-A Easton, the charity race event will be held on Saturday, March 29 at Idlewild Park in Easton.

Three races will be held: a 5K, a 10K, and a one-mile Family Fun Run, with medals and prizes for all categories.  Top male and female finishers for each race as well as the winner of the “Spirit” category will be awarded free Chick-fil-A meals for a year.  Runners will receive swag bags, dri-fit shirts, and Chick-fil-A chicken biscuits at the finish line.  The event includes a Family FunZone with games, crafts, Lollipop the Clown and other kids activities.  A variety of vendors also are participating.

Top sponsors are Best Western Plus Easton Inn & Suites; Preston Automotive Group; Higginbottom Orthodontics; Gamse Lithographing Company; and the Dental Office of Dr. Margret Quimby, DDS, all sponsoring at the Silver level.  The Star Democrat and 96.7 WCEI are Silver media sponsors.

Bronze sponsors are:  Harris Crab House; The Hill Group at Morgan Stanley; Dr. Herbert P. Gorin, DDS; Kevertin Pet Resort; and The Orthopedic Center.

Family FunZone sponsors are the Bay Pediatric Center, West & Callahan, and Fox Trucking Inc.  Vendors are Cross Court Athletic Club, Baird, Admiral Tire, Harrison Transmission, Fitness Rx, The Star Democrat, and Chesapeake Medical Imaging.

“This is a competitive, nationwide series of races that partner with local charities to raise funds. I’m thrilled that we’ve been able to extend the reach of this partnership to Maryland and the Eastern Shore so that our community can benefit from this event.” said Josh Horner, Chick-fil-A Easton owner.

All funds raised will go directly to Talbot County Young Life.  The non-profit Young Life ministry helps kids develop skills, assets and attitudes to reach their full God-given potential.

The 5K and 10K races will begin at 9:00 a.m., with the one-mile Family Fun Run beginning at 10:30 a.m. To register for the event, participants can visit CFAraceseries.com. The registration fee for individuals who sign up before March 29 is $25, and the fee for those who sign up on race day is $30. For 10K runners, the price is $30 and increases to $35 on race day. For groups of four or more runners, a 10 percent discount will be applied to the total registration cost.   Volunteers also are needed, and can sign up at CFAraceseries.com.
