This Sunday, December 13, Christ Church in Easton will present a Service of Advents Lessons and Carols at 4:00 p.m. As services have resumed in the church following a lengthy restoration, the service gives the public an opportunity experience the works of George Frederic Handel, Malcolm Archer, Bob Chilcott, John Ferguson and others along with the newly installed four-manual Rodgers 484 organ which will be played by Dr. Dale Krider. Wes Lockfaw will be conducting.
A part of the Christ Church Concert Series, the service is modeled after the version of Nine Lessons and Carols as presented by the Kings College Choir and Sir David Willcocks. Through a series of readings, anthems, solos, and carols, the age old prophecy of a coming Messiah will unfold in a space carefully restored and in an acoustic reminiscent of many of Europe’s houses of worship. There is no charge, but a free will offering will be received to support this and other concerts. Following the presentation, refreshments will be served.
The Christ Church Concert Series extends its appreciation to all who sustain this series throughout the year and to the Talbot County and Maryland State Arts Councils for their faithful support. Christ Church is located at 111 South Harrison Street in downtown Easton.
