Christmas in St. Michaels has established a new grant application timeline for local non-profit organizations that wish to apply for funds from the December 2015 charity event. Applications for funding from this year’s event are available on the CISM website, www.christmasinstmichaels.org. Completed applications must be postmarked on or before August 1, 2015. Beneficiaries for 2015 will be announced on September 1, 2015, and recipients will be notified in writing. Funds will be distributed in February 2016.
In making this announcement, Bev Pratt, CISM board president, said: “We have changed—and shortened—our timing for accepting and reviewing grant applications. We wanted to move the process closer to the event in which the funds are raised. Previously, we started the grant application process approximately a year before the funds were actually distributed. Now beneficiaries will be announced in September and receive their funding in February following our Christmas in St. Michaels December event.”
Organizations eligible to apply for funding are non-profits that provide services and support to people in the Bay Hundred community. To print a grant application, go to the CISM website, www.christmasinstmichaels.org. Click on the “Grant” icon at the top of the home page. The application will come up, and you can download and print it. After filling out the application, mail it to: Christmas in St. Michaels, P.O. Box 873, St. Michaels, MD 21663, Attn: Applications Committee. If you have questions about the grant application process, please call 410-745-0745.
The Christmas in St. Michaels event, which raises funds for its beneficiaries and provides a very special start to the holiday season for area residents and visitors alike, takes place this year on December 11, 12 and 13. Activities include a Holiday Gala, Christmas Parade, Tour of Homes, Breakfast with Santa, Santa’s Wonderland, Gingerbread House Display, shopping at Marketplace for hand-crafted gifts, a Celebration of Choirs, and many other holiday festivities. This year, the 12th annual Collectors Ornament honors the 50th anniversary of the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. It depicts the crab dredger “Old Point” and the iconic Hooper Strait Lighthouse. It is available online, in many St. Michaels stores, and in the CBMM’s shop.
Since its founding in 1987, CISM has raised more than $1M to support families in the Bay Hundred area, promote conservation efforts, and advance cultural, athletic and educational programs.
