The Maryland Natural Resources Police (NRP) and Dorchester County Fire and Rescue responded to a call today at 10:06am in Slaughter Creek were they found an unresponsive man who was later pronounced dead. Responders received a call reporting a spinning boat in Slaughter Creek Near Taylors Island. It was there that they found the unmanned boat and the operator, Richard Yost, 62 of Clear Spring, Md., in the water unresponsive. Rescuers pulled the victim from the creek and performed CPR. He was transported to Dorchester General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Yost was apparently crabbing when he fell into the water.
The incident is under investigation to determine if the victim fell overboard and drowned or had a medical emergency prior to the fall. An autopsy will be performed at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner inBaltimore. No foul play is suspected.
