Coats Masonic Lodge #102 in Easton, MD, is sponsoring an Open House honoring its 160th Anniversary on Saturday, November 21, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at its location at 114 North Washington Street. Tours of the lodge will be provided and refreshments will be served.
Coats Masonic Lodge #102 was named after Dr. John Coats, the first Grand Master of Masons in Maryland. Coats lived in Easton where the Grand Lodge of Maryland was first organized. Coats Masonic Lodge #102 was chartered on November 21, 1855 and first met at the Old Market House on Harrison Street. Eventually in 1880, the Masons built their lodge at their current location on Washington Street and have been there ever since. Senators, congressmen, military generals, and a National Baseball Hall of Famer have all been members of the Coats Lodge.
The Masons are inviting the public to help celebrate 160 years of tradition and community service.
