Comedian Robert Post brings his nationally-touring variety show to the Shore on Friday, Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. in the Todd Performing Arts Center at Chesapeake College.
Post’s one-man variety show entertains, educates, engages and empowers. Through comedy, ventriloquism, acting, mime, and puppetry; this gifted entertainer offers up a unique performance for any venue.
“With its dry humor, expert mime, versatile acting, skilled juggling, ventriloquism, splendid timing and keen sense of satire and the absurd, “The Post Man Delivers,” has a sophisticated air about it. The POSTman of the title is Robert Post, who merits a place on anybody’s all-star team of the goofily gifted,” according to The New York Times.
Today show co-host Matt Lauer said of Robert Post, “I like him because he’s insane…completely insane.”
“He is as riveting as he is eclectic…uproariously funny,” said Bob Mondelo of National Public Radio.
A former professional golf caddy, Post brings his powerful observations and unique perspective to the stage with each performance. The actor interacts with the audience and his performances include more than 20 different characters.
The performer has developed a loose, playful approach to performance that invites audiences to participate in his creative, zany world. Post creates a charismatic comedy feast that unleashes the imagination and defies description. Equally at home in concert halls or classrooms, he’s an entire theatre company himself, specializing in rapid-fire character changes, even different roles for different body parts. Post’s performances draw from a body of work that he carefully selects from to respond to the age levels and interests of children, teens and adults alike.
Throughout his career, Post has performed in almost every conceivable setting including concert halls, street corners, dinner theaters, prisons, factories, TV commercials, homeless shelters, festivals, and with symphony orchestras.
Post has created more than 30 pieces that have been performed through the United States, Canada, Japan, Mexico, Russia and the Mediterranean region. His credits include an internationally broadcast PBS special “Robert Post – In Performance” and an engagement at New York City’s Lincoln Center Institute.
Tickets for the show are $25/general admission and $10/students. Discounts are available for groups of 20 or more. For tickets and information, please call the TPAC box office at 410-827-5867.
