On Sunday, July 12, 5:30pm, Carpe Diem Arts and Trinity Cathedral of Easton (315 Goldsborough St.) will present the U.S. premiere “Children of the Stone/Dal’Ouna” concert and book tour featuring the powerful music of renowned Palestinian composer and world musician Ramzi Aburedwan, founder of Al Kamandjati music schools — with his Arabic-French Dal’Ouna Ensemble, a dynamic fusion of Palestinian folk, classical, jazz and world music. Members include Ramzi on viola and bouzouki, percussionist Tareq Rantisi, oud player Ziad Ben Youssef from Tunisia, and accordion virtuoso Edwin Burger from France.
They will be joined by international best-selling author and award-winning journalist, Sandy Tolan, reading excerpts from his book (details below). Opening the concert will be the popular Seth Kibel Jazz Trio. Vocalist Lena Seikaly, described by the Washington Post as “one of Washington’s preeminent jazz singers” and “brightest voices in jazz” will be performing with both groups.
