Downtown Denton invites you to celebrate the season at Miracle on Market Street, an all day celebration on December 13th in historic Denton. This family-friendly event will feature the Holiday Marketplace, Santa & Mrs. Claus, gingerbread house making, decorated holiday windows, carolers and more!
Denton will become illuminated as merchants decorate their storefronts as “Christmas on the Choptank.” Many downtown businesses will be staying open late, so you can do some holiday shopping as you stroll along Market Street.
Chesapeake Culinary Center will be offering an all-inclusive Gingerbread House workshop from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at 512 Franklin Street. Attendees will be able to enter their creations into the Gingerbread House Contest. Gingerbread entries will be on display at the Holiday Marketplace, located at 300 Market Street, and judging will take place from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm.
The Fiber Arts Center of the Eastern Shore, located at 7 N. 4th Street, will be offering free ornament-making with artist Alida Greenhalgh from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm. They will also be hosting an Open House at their Holiday Bazaar throughout the day, featuring gifts crafted by local fiber artists.
The Foundry, Caroline County’s community arts gallery, will be hosting a book launch party from 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm for “Story Tellers”, a collection of stories selected from the Short Story contest and the recently formed Write On! club. The book will be available for purchase, and featured authors will be on hand to sign copies.
Joviality Gifts, located at 406 Market Street, will have carolers and sweet treats by the fire from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, as well as holiday specials on stocking stuffers.
Patti’s Petals Florist Garden & Gifts, located at 219 Market Street, will be hosting an Old Fashioned Christmas Wreath Making Class at 6:30 pm. Bring your creativity and create a beautiful wreath from fresh greens just in time for Christmas. The class is $30 per person, and reservations are required by December 5th. Finish the evening at Harry’s on the Green with their “Christmas Wish.” Get cozy by the crackling fire and enjoy live renditions of Christmas classics such as Santa Baby, festive cocktails, and a holiday-inspired menu.
Don’t forget to stop in to see Santa and Mrs. Claus at 300 Market Street from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm and check out the Holiday Marketplace, a seasonal market featuring numerous vendors. The marketplace kick off on Thursday, December 4th, the night of the Denton Holiday Parade, and will be open Fridays through Sunday for the first two weeks of December. The hours are:

The Santa Chase 2-Mile Fun Run & Walk will also take place on December 13th at Martinak State Park in Denton. Registration opens at 6:00 pm, and the race begins at 7:30 pm. Creative costumes are encouraged at this pet-friendly event to benefit the vision-care service mission of Lions International and the pet pantry at Caroline County Humane Society. The course will be marked with traditional candle luminaries. Pre-race activities will take place from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm and include Santa’s Magic Workshop and hayrides through the Enchanted Forest.
