Easton Airport is excited to invite the public to a special“Walk & Talk” airport open house series. The event will offer the community an on-site tour of the community airport with a socially distanced trek through designated sections of the airfield on May 13, 20, and 27.
Groups of approximately 25 will pre-register and be invited to join airport management for the walking tour. The event will be informative and engaging, offering a behind the scenes look at airport operations. Along with conversations about the history of the airport, management hopes the event helps the community get outside and back to regularly scheduled activities after a prolonged period of stay-at-home orders and isolation.
“We are excited to invite our community out to the airport again,” Easton Airport Manager Micah Risher said.“This is an opportunity to hear about our rich aviation history, observe our current operations, and learn about the future of Easton Airport.”
The tours will begin at 10 a.m. at the picnic area outside the Easton Airport terminal. The group will be taken beyond the gates and walk a 1-mile loop to the Easton Air Traffic Control Tower and back. During the walk and conversation, management will make stops to look and take photos at hangars, aircraft, and other equipment that are out during the walk. The tour will end back at the terminal where photo-ops with the F-104 Starfighter, donated to Easton Airport by Tom Blair, will be available.
The event will follow a COVID-19 safety plan that includes requiring face coverings, social distancing, and limited touch points. Easton Airport management coordinated with the Talbot County Health Department by submitting the plan outlining the safety precautions that will be implemented in accordance with the Governor’s Executive Orders.
“It’s great to see events coming back as COVID-19 cases decline and vaccinations increase,” Easton Airport Business & Marketing Coordinator Jeff Lankford said. “Working with the Talbot County Health Department to design this event safely was extremely easy and we look forward to planning and announcing more activities at the airport later this year.”
Pre-registration for “Walk & Talk” is required to ensure that groups do not exceed capacity. No 4-legged friends or strollers are permitted on the tour. Hand sanitizer will be available for use during and after the walk. Attendees will be responsible for bringing and wearing face coverings and staying 6-feet apart during the activities. Comfortable walking shoes, camera, sunscreen, and weather appropriate clothes are the only other things needed to enjoy a morning on the community airfield.
