Editor’s Note. Leslie Hamburger of Easton ran in this year’s New York City Marathon. She has written a blog about her training and Marathon experience that is posted here by the Talbot Spy. Her running team raised money for the A-T Ease Foundation. The foundation supports research into Ataxia Telangiectasia, a rare genetic disorder affecting children. It is a progressive disease that causes cancers, immune system deficiencies and neurological deterioration. Dick Cooper
Here is Leslie’s brief biography:
Born and raised in Hawthorne, California (an L.A. suburb in the South Bay – home of the Beach Boys!); after too many years of goofing off, (which included a year at California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo as a journalism major), I finally graduated from California State University, Long Beach, with a degree in Television & Film. Worked in the television and film business for 11 years, which was also a version of goofing off. Lived in the Hollywood Hills with my husband, David, before we moved to Easton in 1995 (still feels like I’m on location and wondering if the film will ever wrap so we can go home!). I have a 16-year old daughter, Rachel, who is a junior at Easton High. I’m a runner and I volunteer. I’ve been on the Board of Directors for the Talbot County Arts Council since 2007; also a committee member for Chesapeake Chamber Music’s Youth Reach program and Jazz Festival; on the Empty Bowls Community Supper committee; part of Easton High’s School Improvement Team and oversee the Homework Club at White Marsh Elementary. (And I might need a 12-step program for volunteering). And did I mention I’m a runner?
