Engage East End, the project website for the East End Small Area Plan, is now live and available to the public. Engage East End is the public interface that gives citizens project information, opportunities to ask questions, respond to surveys, take polls, and learn about upcoming events. The website also gives citizens the option to create an account to receive email notifications. Alternative language options, including Spanish, are available.
A unique feature of Engage East End is the interactive map where citizens can provide feedback on a variety of topics, such as bicycle and pedestrian hazards and intersection issues, by placing pins on a map of the East End planning area. Staff is collecting and compiling the information submitted on the map to help in the development of the plan.
The East End Small Area Plan is a follow-up to the Town’s existing East End Housing and Neighborhood Revitalization Plan, approved in September 1997. The Small Area Plan will update the existing plan to reflect the area’s current needs, assets, and opportunities. Planning in the East End includes three primary areas of focus; the Dover Road Corridor, the legacy industrial areas associated with the former railroad, and the site of the current Talbot County Health Department, which is scheduled to relocate to a different site in the near future. A final draft of the Small Area Plan is expected by March of 2024.
