Endorsements: Mikulski for Keasha Haythe

October 16, 2014 by Press Release

Share

Senator Barbara Mikulski has announced that she endorses Democrat Keasha Haythe in the race to represent District 37B in the House of Delegates.

Mikulski said she has worked with Haythe and has seen her success with public and private partnerships. Haythe has been the Dorchester County Economic Development Director since 2008.

“Her leadership is exactly the kind that is needed in Annapolis,” Mikulski said.

Haythe’s campaign has stressed the need for more and better jobs in District 37B, which includes all of Talbot County and parts of Dorchester, Caroline and Wicomico counties. “We value farmers and watermen,” said Haythe, the granddaughter of a Bellevue waterman, “but for the Mid-Shore also needs the sort of jobs that will give young families a future here and jobs that will keep our sons and daughters from having to move elsewhere to have careers.”

Haythe, who lives in Easton, said she and her husband chose to raise their three children in the Mid-Shore because of the quality of life, but that the lack of jobs is tarnishing the quality of life here. She said Mikulski also understands the problem, adding that the senator “has worked tirelessly to ensure the Eastern Shore is taken care of, from the broadband initiative to funding for the Technology Park in Dorchester County.”

Comptroller Peter Franchot, local educators and the Maryland State Education Association have also endorsed Haythe. “I’m honored to receive the endorsement from Senator Mikulski,” Haythe said. “She’s the voice of Maryland and the Eastern Shore in the U.S. Senate.”
