The Eastern Shore Writer’s Association presents a half-day workshop on writing short stories from 9:30 a.m. until noon, Saturday, March 28 at Trinity Cathedral in Easton.
The workshop is the first of ESWA’s spring series and focuses on “The Art and Craft of the Short Story,” with noted literature teachers John Miller and John Ford. The class is a must for anyone interested in writing short stories.
Workshop participants are encouraged to read Alice Munro’s “Train” and James Joyce’s “The Dead” and a copy of the texts to the meeting. Both texts are available on the Internet.
Miller is a former adjunct professor of English at Carnegie Mellon University and lecturer in the Department of English at the University of Pittsburgh. He received his Ph.D. in English Literature from the University of Pittsburgh.
Ford majored in literature in college and is facilities manager at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels. He has helped facilitate more than 25 courses on literature for the museum’s Academy for Lifelong Learning. He also is president of the Easton Town Council.
