To promote land preservation, The Chesapeake Bay String of Pearls Dec. 13 to 15 will host a plein air scavenger hunt through downtown Easton businesses, with the winner receiving a real string of pearls donated by Shearer the Jeweler.
The String of Pearls Project honors landowners and organizations that preserve land. Recently, the organization teamed up with plein air artists who paint these preserved “pearls.” The paintings will be on display at a Dec. 12 event for the landowners and their families.
The following businesses are participating in the String of Pearls event: Cottage Studio & Gallery, Dragonfly Boutique, Chef & Shower, Irish Traditions, The Green Phoenix, La De Da, Andrea’s Papillon, Berrier LTD, Mimi’s Closet, Vintage Books & Fine Art, Marc Randall, Jean McHale Antiques & Design, Lanham Hall Design, Shearer the Jeweler, Studio B, The Clay Bakers, Due East, Butler-Grafton Framing, Lizzie Dee, Fashion N Art, Miranda’s Shoes, Piazza Italiam Market, Moonvine, Trumpeter Swan Antiques, Frugalicious, and Trippe-Hilderbrandt Gallery. Many of those businesses will host paintings for the scavenger hunt.
Sixty percent of the sale price of the paintings goes to the artist; the String of Pearls organization receives the remainder and shares proceeds from properties with Eastern Shore Land Conservancy easements with ESLC.
Entry forms will be available at businesses in December and for download at stringofpearls.org.
Entrants should return their forms between 1 and 3:45 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, to the Easton Studio, 307 E. Dover Street, where there will be a reception with wine, cheese and cookies.
Completed, correct forms will be entered into the drawing, and the winner will be selected at 4 p.m.
