Fine Arts @ Oxford, now in its thirtieth year, sports a new name for a new decade; only the legendary fresh, homemade strawberry shortcake and direct-from-the-artists sales appear just as they did in year one.
The Patron’s Preview Party (May 16, 6-8 pm) will be a suitably gala celebration; arriving guests will be welcomed with glasses of champagne, and will be delighted by a bounty of delicious cocktail fare from the Bartlett Pear, Captain’s Ketch, Easton Diner, Garden & Garnish, Latitude 38, Osteria Alfredo, Pope’s Tavern, the Robert Morris Inn and Scossa. A full bar, a light jazz duo and other live entertainment will contribute to the evening’s festive atmosphere.
Advance reservation is required; invitations may be requested by a call or e-mail to the Oxford Community Center: 410-226-5904 or [email protected].
Nearly 40 artists (including 10 first-time participants) have been juried into the 2014 event. They will offer a wide variety of two- and three-dimensional subject matter and media, and hail from MD, DE, VA, PA, GA, FL and TN. Many of them will provide live demonstrations throughout the weekend, and have generously offered upwards of 20 pieces for raffle. Those tickets may be purchased all weekend; hourly drawings will begin at noon on Sunday, though lucky winners need not be present. In addition to the famous strawberry shortcake, a selection of freshly homemade luncheon choices from kitchen and grill will be available for purchase on both weekend days.
The 30th annual Fine Arts @ Oxford is held at the beautifully-renovated Oxford Community Center, located at 200 Oxford Rd. in Oxford, MD. Weekend admission is $5. (Saturday, May 17: 10-5; Sunday, May 18: 10-4), and 30% of all art sales directly benefit the Center. For further information, call 410-226-5904.
