A fire that claimed the life of a Centreville man Sunday morning is being investigated by the Fire Marshal’s office. Madison Brown, 91, was found dead in his residence by a caretaker.
The incident was discovered shortly before 11 a.m. at 340 Brownsville Road. Investigators determined the fire started in the bedroom of the house and extinguished itself. The cause remains under investigation. Deputy Fire Marshals said the one-story house did not have working smoke alarms. The Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Department and Good Will Fire Department assisted on scene.
The cause of the death will be determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
