Forloney’s responsibilities include developing partnerships with community organizations and cultural institutions, oversight of the Museum’s internship program as well as ensuring that the Museum’s research is incorporated into dynamic public programs and exhibits.
Forloney has spent more than ten years in the museum education field, working with the New York City Museum School, the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Museum of the City of New York, the Morgan Library, American Museum of Natural History, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the South Street Seaport Museum.
Forloney is a founding member of the New York State Council for History Education and has served on the commissioner’s state and local history education task force at the New York State education department and on the board of New York City’s museum education roundtable. Forloney received his education in New York, earning his undergraduate degrees from the New School for Social Research, his teaching certification from Bank Street College of Education and a master’s in humanities and social thought from New York University.
Through educational, cultural and interactive exhibits and activities, the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum celebrates the connections between the Bay and its people. The museum’s waterfront campus includes twelve exhibit buildings along the Miles River and St. Michaels Harbor.
