Wendy Rosen won another big endorsement in her Congressional campaign in Maryland’s 1st Congressional District. Former Gov. Harry Hughes, who served as Maryland’s Governor from 1979-1987 has voiced his support for the Democratic Congressional Candidate.
“Wendy is a voice for integrity, honesty, and core Democratic Values, and that is why I am endorsing her. She is the right kind of fighter to take on, and defeat, Andy Harris in November. I believe that her commitment to protecting the Chesapeake Bay, defending Medicare and Social Security, and fighting for the middle class makes her a strong candidate and the right voice for the Democratic Party this year,” the former Governor said about his support for Wendy.
Wendy Rosen had this to say about the former Governor’s support, “I am so proud to have the support of Governor Harry Hughes. He has been a true champion of the Democratic party for many years and knows better than anybody what it is going to take for us to win in November. I cannot thank him enough for being supportive of my campaign.”
Wendy went on to say that she was excited to take her message of Democratic values and economic development into the General Election and hoped to serve “in the fine tradition that Wayne Gilchrest established during his time in Congress.”
Wendy Rosen is challenging John La Ferla and Kim Letke in the Democratic primary on April 3rd. The winner of that primary will go on to challenge Republican Andy Harris in the General Election.
