From Gala to Online Auction

August 7, 2020 by Spy Desk

For the first time in nearly a decade, Talisman Therapeutic Riding (TTR) will bypass the Derby Live! event in 2020 and in its place host an online auction. In light of current circumstances, the organization made the decision to forego the in-person gathering that is Talisman’s signature event and largest fundraiser. The auction will run from August 22nd until September 5th and can be accessed from Talisman’s website.

“We still have to feed the horses. And we still have riders many of whom depend on scholarships,” said Anne Joyner, founder and CEO of TTR. Meeting all the requirements necessary to keep our riders safe and healthy adds steps to every therapeutic riding lesson, but we feel it is more important than ever to insure that our kiddos can continue to interact with the horses and our staff.

Board members, staff, and volunteers have sent personal appeals to friends and supporters to go online to view and bid on the many items in the auction. Items include a 4 night 5 day stay at the Zemi beach house in Aquilla, beauty services, restaurant certificates, and fitness club memberships.

For the first time this year, the Talisman fundraiser will feature art donated by well-known local artists. Pieces will be featured on the auction site along with a brief bio of the artists.

To view items and to bid go to www.talismantherapeuticriding.org and click on “Catalogue.” As the bidding proceeds, bidders will be able to watch the progress of the offerings and rebid on their favorites.
