Easton Little League opens its 2016 season this Saturday at North Easton Park with an Opening Day celebration full of recognitions, food and fellowship, followed by a full slate of youth baseball and softball.
“While Mother Nature did not cooperate with us last weekend, we are looking forward to a fun day of baseball and softball this Saturday,” said Easton Little League President Wade Dressler. “Our volunteers, managers and players have been working very hard to get ready and we anticipate an exciting season for our players and families.”
Teams will line up on Anthony Field before each round of games while soloist Katelynn Cherry graces us with her rendition of our national anthem. Pre-game ceremonies will continue with players and manager introductions before players hit their respective fields of play. Team sponsors and elected officials are invited to join their teams on the field for introductions. Individual introductions will be done before each game, beginning at 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Easton Little League will also host its inaugural “Homerun Derby” featuring players from its Major League division at 11 a.m. In between games, guests can check out the Fair Plays, Talbot County’s own “Olde Tyme” baseball team, who will be at the park with displays and demonstrations.
Easton Little League’s new concessionaire, Jamie Petrides, will have the “Snack Shack” open throughout the day with a full slate of popular concessions for sale including hot dogs, pulled pork and other ballpark fare.
Over 400 youth, ranging in age from 4 to 16, will be taking part in Easton Little League program offerings this season.

This year the Easton Little League’s team the Lions is unique in that it is a family affair with a brother, sister, cousin, father (coach)and a grandfather (manager).
