UNLEASHED is back for a Spring season supporting the animals and people served by Talbot Humane. This charity running program takes average folks from the couch to the start line of a half marathon. In exchange for training friends commit to raising a set amount of funds for the shelter. This program is doable for anyone. Participants are matched with others of like fitness levels in pace groups, so no fear that you are trying to keep up with seasoned runners if you are new. This year the team will be training for the Frederick Running Festival half marathon.
Team members meet on Saturday mornings for our group run: walk with pace group which are fully supported with safety spotters, coaches and water stops. Members will then do 2 run: walks (approximately 30 minutes each) during the week on their own. Talbot Humane coaches and staff help team members reach fitness and fundraising goals, changing the lives of participants and the animals of our community. “I am a great example of someone who never thought they would be a runner,” shares executive director Patty Quimby “I was a seasoned couch potato, overweight and out of shape my first day stepping off. 12 years later I have completed almost twenty half marathons and three full marathons, made lifelong friends, and changed my life and the lives of animals.”
If you are interested in learning more about UNLEASHED the next informational meeting is Saturday January 13, 2024, at 11A at the shelter 7894 Ocean Gateway, Easton. You may visit www.talbothumane.org for more details or contact Talbot Humane at 410-822-0107 or [email protected] .
