At their July 29 meeting, the Board of Trustees for the Talbot County Free Library elected Gloria Y. Farrare of Easton to a four–year term on the Board. Board chair Barbara Lane said, “The Talbot County Free Library belongs to the community and is central to it. It provides essential services and vital resources to residents and helps neighborhoods thrive. Gloria brings a wealth of community experience to our Board which will help the Library to continue to build partnerships and make new connections in the County. We are pleased and honored to have her serve with us.”
Farrare served two terms on the Talbot County School Board. She has served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for 20 years, a CHEER (Community Helping Everyone Enjoy Reading) volunteer for 12 years, a Character Counts Coach at Easton High School for 9 years, and a member of the Diversity and Equity Leadership Team for the Talbot County School Board. She was appointed to the Blue Ribbon Commission for Drugs and Alcohol Abuse by the Talbot County Council.
A parishioner at New Zion United Methodist Church, Farrare is a member of the choir and serves as the Church Council Secretary and Church Historian. After retiring from Verizon, she now works part-time at 1880 Bank (formerly Easton Bank and Trust). Farrare has two sons, eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
