Over the years, the Spy has made it a habit to check in with Julie Lowe, executive director of Talbot Interfaith Shelter, about once a year for a number of reasons.
The first is fairly simple. The Spy studio is only a few doors down from Talbot Interfaith Shelter’s two residential homes and we’re always curious about how things are going in the hood, so to speak.
The primary one is, of course, that TIS has been one of Easton’s great success stories since they began operations 15 years ago. Launched as an interfaith team effort to begin addressing the issue of homelessness in Talbot County, the organization has won the respect of the community and helped hundreds get back on their feet and put a permanent and safe roof over their heads.
In our most recent Spy interview, Julie, one of the group’s founders, talks about those early days and also the progress that has been made since acquiring two houses on Goldsbourgh Street in 2009, as well as what the future holds for TIS going forward.
This video is approximately eight minutes in length. For more information about go here. To sign up for the TIS annual Lip Sync Batlle on April 27 please go here.
