University of Maryland Shore Regional Health has partnered with the Talbot County Health Department Cigarette Restitution Fund to promote the American Cancer Society’s Great American Smoke-Out®, to be observed this year on November 19.
Each year, the Great American Smoke-Out® is promoted nationally to encourage smokers to quit using tobacco, if only for one day. The idea behind the event is that spending one day smoke-free could lead to another and ultimately enable someone to kick their tobacco addiction.
In observance of the Smoke-Out, the Talbot County Health Department Cigarette Restitution Fund is encouraging community members to make a donation to the Cancer Center at UM Shore Regional Health for the amount they would have spent on tobacco that day.
