The Avalon hosts an evening of Gypsy Jazz, samba, bossa nova and swing when the Veronneau band performs in the Stolz Listening Room on Saturday, April 21. After little more than two years together, the group has gained huge popularity with fans in more than 100 countries. Eastern Shore music lovers will hear the group perform songs from their popular 2011 album, Joie de Vivre, and enjoy a sneak preview of pieces from the upcoming disc, Jazz Samba Project.
Joie de Vivre, made the top tens lists of many radio stations and rose to No. 9 in the world music category of Jazzweek’s radio charts. The album features jazz and pop classics from Brazil, Mexico, France and Great Britain sung in three languages by Quebecoise Lynn Véronneau. Acoustic guitars and tasteful percussion frame her captivating vocals. Her husband, British guitarist Ken Avis, is the former lead singer for the legendary Otis Grand blues band. Classically trained guitarist David Rosenblatt and percussionist Pete Walby complete the core group. Internationally respected jazz saxophonist Jeff Antoniuk is a featured guest artist on both albums and will appear in the Easton concert.
