Nice soundtrack

Jody Shaner says
I’ve noticed the same people have signs to remove the monument are the same people who don’t fly the American flag. Seems to tell you something. Food for thought.
Deirdre LaMotte says
Curious. Could it be they don’t need to unless
it’s Independence Day or Memorial Day? I’m sure you are not suggesting anti-racist are anti-
American. In fact, I would suggest they are the true patriots, and would never dream of using Old Glory for partisan issues.
Henry Herr says
Actually I see them always flying the American flag. I however see the PTH side almost exclusively fly the Confederate Battle Flag and not the American flag. More food for thought.
Paul Callahan says
Henry, You have never seen the PTH fly a confederate flag – never compromise you integrity, it is the only thing that can never be taken from you.
Stephen Schaare says
Hi Paul, Yes, lots of folks see lots of Confederate flags.
I have not.
Henry Herr says
Hey Paul, look up Mr. Childers if you don’t believe me. I’ve got plenty of evidence of PTH members with photo evidence flying the Confederate flag. I’ve brought this up before. Have a good one!
Anne C Stalfort says
How would you know if one flies the American flag? I proudly marched to move the Confederate monument and fly the American flag and the Maryland flag. Interesting to note that the monument represents those who fought under the Confederate flag, not the American flag.
Willard T Engelskirchen says
We fly the flag every day. We favor moving the monument. Where do you get your information?
Darrell parsons says
You must have missed some of the video. There were many American flags in the March and at the rally.
Carol Voyles says
Thank you, John Griep.
Stephen Schaare says
Yeah, I pretty much figured about 95% white libs.
Suzanne Todd says
Mr. Schafer,
I guess I am a white lib, as you label us. I’m not ashamed of that, but you imply that I should be. Labels are one of the problems today. Assigning labels to people you don’t know doesn’t help any situation. We were at the March, my husband is a veteran, and we fly the American flag.
Katie Day says
In Cambridge we have commissioned a statue of Harriet Tubman, our native daughter. It has been an incredible community effort that is bringing us together rather than dividing us. Join us!
Willard T Engelskirchen says
I strongly suggest that those who want to keep the monument read Ty Seidule’s book “Robert E Lee and Me – A Southerner’s Reckoning with the Myth of the Lost Cause.” He has much information on monuments and when and why the came into being. A little education might be worth while here. Dr. Seidule is a retired Brig. General whose last military job was as head of the history department at West Point. As a young man his goal was to become a Southern Gentleman. He matured. If you google him you will find several videos worth watching. One is only 5 minutes long. Worth your time.
Glenn C Baker says
Another book that rewrites history. I read it. lots of opinions, little researched history included.
Even the US ARMY makes mistakes. Veteran here.
Bill Aiken says
I notice that some on this thread want to criticize the presence of “Libs” at the rally and speculate on their US flag flying habits. That seems to be their only argument
Well, I’m liberal on some things, and conservative on others. So what!?
They are avoiding the issue of this monument itself – it’s history and the racist and insurrectionist values it promotes. This monument Is indefensible in its present location, so let’s just take it down.
