Infrastructure Improvements Throughout Town

May 7, 2021 by Spy Desk

It is a busy season for the Town of Easton with numerous projects underway or already in progress. Crews from the various departments at Easton Utilities and the Town of Easton are addressing the necessary repairs and improvements to critical infrastructure during this season of ideal weather conditions, which helps expedite the completion of projects.

“Many of these important projects require underground access and traffic disruptions, so we are grateful for everyone’s patience during this time,” Aaron Goller, Civil Engineer II for Easton Utilities.

From replacing aging water mains to upgrading electrical equipment to trimming trees interfering with power lines, teams are dispersed throughout town to efficiently accomplish this work. The timeline for these projects’ factors in the actual repair, followed by resurfacing the streets and sidewalks. Easton Utilities coordinates all work with the Town of Easton Engineering and Public Works departments. “We meet weekly and look at projects from a strategic perspective to ensure we are all addressing any issues while working in one location,” stated Paul Moffett, Engineering Department Manager at Easton Utilities.

The Engineering teams for both Easton Utilities and the Town of Easton conduct studies and analyzes the lifespan of certain infrastructure. To ensure safety and reliability, the team developed a Master Utility Replacement Plan several years ago, which is updated annually. This plan identifies the infrastructure which needs addressing and tracks the improvements and upgrades as they are completed.

“We realize these significant projects can be an inconvenience to our customers and those who visit Easton; however, maintaining this critical infrastructure is a priority as we all depend on reliable utilities daily,” added Goller.

While there are numerous projects occurring simultaneously, some of the more significant will impact traffic and residents along Goldsborough Avenue, Idlewild Avenue, South Street, and High Street. The residents in these areas will receive notification letters in advance.

Easton Utilities is a community-owned, not-for-profit utility and telecommunications company operating the Electric, Natural Gas, Water, Wastewater, Cable Television, and Internet services for the Town of Easton and portions of the surrounding area. Visit eastonutilities.com for more information.
