The Green Phoenix Gallery features custom soaps, lotions and balms by Jennifer Dowling.
Can aromas heal? Does organic soap matter? Is it better to surround yourself with beautiful objects and calming scents, than not?
June at The Green Phoenix Gallery helps answer these questions, with Jen’s Blends — hand blended artistic soaps, lotions and balms by Jennifer Dowling. Meet the artist on First Friday June 7 from 5-8-pm and see her great new products; including aromatherapy nasal inhalers, beard balms, Boo Boo Cream, calamine soap, fisherman’s soap, and just introduced shampoo bars. Plus bars and bars of imaginative, beautiful soaps in new feminine and masculine designs and colors, hand spun luxurious lotions, goat milk body creams and more than 15 varieties of lip balms.
As a mother of two, Dowling did all she could to protect her kids from the elements. “From sunlight, to bug bites, to the occasional scraped knee; I tried every over the counter ointment, lotion and balm available. Finding no remedy that worked, and inspired my daughter’s chronically chapped lips and my son’s dry hands, I decided to try making my own. With a little experimentation, a lot of research, and a healthy dose of love, I blended my first product and Winter Wonder lip balm was born.” Since then, Jen’s Blends has grown from a home remedy hobby to a complete line of personal body and skin care all using natural and organic ingredients.
“In addition to finding that Jen’s products really work”, says gallery owner Andi Tassencourt, “they are like beautiful works of art; and are a wonderful complement to the international flavor of hand crafted works by our Fair Trade artisans, in combination with our eclectic mix of fine, artisanal crafts by local artists and oil paintings by Diane DuBois Mullaly. All come together to offer an environment with a full range of creative arts for the community to enjoy!”
And Frivolous Fibers Yarn Boutique, located inside The Green Phoenix Gallery, adds even more interest, featuring a collection of its own line of gorgeous, hand-spun, and hand-dyed yarns. Stop by to see and feel the yarn for yourself, and ask about spinning, knitting and crochet lessons and groups.
The Green Phoenix Gallery is located at 31 N Harrison St, Easton. 410-822-7554. Open Monday – Saturday 10 am – 5 pm, Closed Sunday. www.facebook.com/greenphoenixgallery
