JoAnn Brown will be the speaker for the Monday, November 7, 2016 Brown Bag Lunch at the St. Michaels branch of the Talbot County Free Library at noon. As a child, JoAnn Brown enjoyed picking herbs in nearby woods. She helped out in her aunt’s health food store, and learned about herbs from her grandmother and other herbalists. She has wild-crafted herbs and studied their uses throughout the East Coast. She enjoys passing on her knowledge of enjoying herbs, teas, and spices. She also enjoys storytelling of Native American culture and traditions. She is excited to share her Native American passion with others.
Brown was raised in St Michaels, MD and PA. Her paternal heritage is Seneca, which is part of the Iroquois Nation. Her maternal heritage contains some Cherokee. She has many years’ experience dancing for Native American events and selling herbs and Southwestern Native American jewelry. She has been in business for over 30 years and now owns the largest Native American shop in Maryland: “Justamere Trading Post” in St Michaels, MD. The Friends of the Library sponsor the Brown Bag Lunch. Bring a lunch and enjoy coffee and desert provided by the library.
