Ever wonder what makes some paintings good and others forgettable? Award winning artist and instructor, Joe Mayer, will explain the secret in a free public talk entitled “The Perfect Marriage in Painting: Vision and Composition” at 7 PM on Thursday evening, June 26 at the St. Michaels Branch of the Talbot County Free Library.
In his 50 year art career, Mr. Mayer has worked in watercolor, oil, acrylic and mixed media. His paintings have been featured in exhibitions throughout the country, and he is currently being represented by galleries in California and New Mexico. Joe won awards in four consecutive years at the Plain Aire Easton competition.
Mr. Mayer was a resident of Easton for ten years prior to moving to Santa Fe. He recently returned east and now resides in West Virginia with his wife and portrait painter, Ann Sharp. Mr. Mayer works in both representative and non-objective, abstract styles. He recently exhibited work at the Pam Foss Gallery in St. Michaels.
The St. Michaels Art League, assisted by a grant from AT&T, is presenting ARTfest, “100 Days of Art” during the summer of 2014. Programs include a series of free public presentations on art, workshops for adults and children, Master Art Classes and a Member Gallery at 106 Railroad Ave., St. Michaels.
