The May meeting of the St. Michaels Art League will feature John Brandon Sills, who will demonstrate and discuss Plein-Air Painting, Monday, May 21st, at 9:30 AM at Christ Church.
John received his BA in Fine Art at Towson State University in 1984, and during that time he spent a semester in Florence, Italy studying Renaissance art. After graduating, John attended the Schuler School of Fine Art in Baltimore, spending four years studying Classical Realism.
He has won many awards including the People’s Choice award at the 2009 Mid Atlantic Plein-Air Painters Association’s Paint Annapolis competition. John also won the Best Painting by a Maryland Artist award in the prestigious Plein-Air Easton competition in 2010 and the First Place award at the Havre de Grace Plein-Air competition in 2009 and 2010. Today John shares his knowledge by teaching landscape painting classes at the Zoll Studio of Fine Art in Timonium, Md.
