This Tuesday, August 6, the public is invited to sit back with a glass of wine at the waterfront Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum (CBMM) in St. Michaels, MD as musician and photographer John Mock performs an evening of original compositions on the guitar, concertina, and tin whistle—all accompanied by a photographic slideshow documenting the maritime vistas inspiring his music.
The concert begins at 6pm in CBMM’s Van Lennep Auditorium, where all ages are invited to enjoy Mock’s musical mastery and engaging storytelling. Seating and light refreshments will be provided.
Mock captures the essence of the sea in his music and photographs. Traveling coastlines from New England to Chincoteague and as far away as Ireland, Mock finds inspiration for his art among seaside villages, wooden boats, and whitewashed lighthouses.
As a composer, arranger and multi-instrumentalist, Mock has worked with such notable artists as James Taylor, Nanci Griffith, Maura O’Connell, Kathy Mattea, and Mark O’Connor. His orchestral arrangements have been performed by the London Symphony, the National Symphony, and the symphonies of Atlanta and Nashville.
The concert is $15 for CBMM members, or $25 for non-members, with children under six and active military admitted free. Advanced registration is needed by calling 410-745-4943.
