On Tuesday night, the St Michaels Girl’s Varsity basketball team hosted the Seahawks from Stephen Decatur High School, in the last home game of the season. The Lady Saints continued to struggle on the court and the final score was Seahawks 61 Saints 12. Head Coach Ken Popp stated that one of the team goals was to score in the double digits. The Lady Saints were able to accomplish their goal due to the outstanding effort by Alaina Hall. Alaina scored seven of the Saints 12 points, including a three point toss in the first period, resulting in her being the high scorer for the Saints. The Lady Saints travel to Kent County on Thursday for the regular season final game.
In the Bayside Conference all the teams are eligible to participate in the playoffs. The playoff commence next week. Due to very complicated playoff rules, there is a possibility that the winless Lady Saints could host a playoff game. As soon as the schedule is set, I will let you know.
The St Michaels Sports Boosters continued the long standing tradition of recognizing the graduating seniors at the last home game of the season. Prior to last night’s game, the Sports Boosters President; LuAnn McKelvey presented the three graduating seniors a rose who in turn presented the rose to one of their parents. The three graduating seniors recognized by the sports boosters were, Alaina Hall, Amber Harper and LaSean Raspberry. I had the opportunity to read a short biography of each senior. Alaina plans to attend college and major in graphic design. Amber will attend college and hopes to become an OB Nurse. LaSean has set her sights on attending college to become a speech pathologist. A number of my friends sitting at the scorers table immediately voice their opinion that the “Voice of the Saints” (AKA Yours Truly) could benefit from working with a Speech Pathologist. You can never have too many friends. We wish all three graduating senior the best during their college years and beyond.

Come on out to St Michaels and cheer them on to victory.
