The 2011-2012 St Michaels High School Lady Saints Basketball team, played their last game of the season Friday night with a loss to Colonel Richardson High School in the first round of the Maryland State, Class 1A East playoffs. The score at the final buzzer was Colonel Richardson 52 St Michaels 20. Unfortunately, this loss completed a winless season for the Lady Saints.
The High scorer for the Saints tonight was Alaina Hall with 11 points. Alaina, a senior, has been a solid player all season taking the high point title home on numerous occasions. The Saints will miss her rebounding skills, shooting ability and hustle next year. The Saints have a promising young freshman by the name of Ashby Steen. Ashby has grown significantly this year as a player and I look forward to watching her hone her skills on the court, in years to come.
I personally take my hat off to head Coach Ken Popp and Assistant Coach Jona Kolakowski for staying strong during a very difficult season for the St Michaels Lady Saints.
