Women’s’ Equality Day, ensuring women the right to vote in 1920, will be celebrated by the League of Women Voters on August 26 with a Luncheon at 202 Dover Street in downtown Easton.
Special speaker for the event is Cameron McCoy, an earnest young man who shares a passion for the gift of voting and the benefits of living in a democratic society. Cameron will discuss the significance of voting rights and the role of America as a role model in the emerging world.
Cameron, a high school freshman, is the winner of the Talbot County Frederick Douglas Award He was also the featured speaker at the Juneteenth celebration.
Reservations for the Luncheon must be made by August 17. The menu includes a salad assortment, dessert, and drinks. Please advise of dietary needs when making reservations. Cost is $35 per person. All luncheon proceeds go toward publication of the 2012 General Presidential Election Voters’ Guide which provides information on candidates and issues before voters.
