I find it disturbing that Laura Price was chastised for her position on several highly toxic issues at a recent meeting even after she explained in detail her valid reasons for her thoughts and comments. No doubt she was singled out and verbally attacked as if an attempt was made to change her mind. Mr. David Montgomery wrote in the Chesapeake Observer the details of the event. Please read it.
This meeting should have been immediately brought under control by President Corey Pack. Now, unfortunately since this has happened, there have been threats, hate mail, and accusations against her. I can only think this is being done to drive her out. Is this the thanks she gets for 10 years and on her 3rd term on the council? She is trying to make Talbot County a better place. Why now after a flawless record has this happened? Talbot County will undoubtedly be the loser if she leaves. She deserves better. The council needs to revisit this and do what is necessary to rectify the situation and assure this never happens again.

Someone needs to remind Mr. KASTEL that the Talbot County Council serve at the pleasure of the voters. They should be responsible to the needs of those voters. However criticisms should be civil and not threaening.
Stephen Schaare says
If Ms. Price is not acceptable-vote her out. Hate to say this, but I suspect her crimes are being white, easy on the eye, snd probably heterosexual. Guilty!!
William Burton, MD says
I could not agree more and applaud Ms Price for a well reasoned opinion and vote. She has been a rare voice of reason.

I am writing in full support of the Letter to the Editor written by Barney Kastel concerning the ill-treatment of Laura Price. David Montgomery’s article in the Chesapeake Observer, states exactly what occurred that day for anyone interested in the truth. The mob mentality that is has been used in attacking Laura is all too familiar as it appears that is the way to proceed if you disagree with someone, that is to attack , defame and name call! There is no modicum of normalcy nor of neighborliness anymore. Regarding voting for the referendum re: defunding police, she obviously read what was voted on and the other council members did not know what they were voting for…REALLY! Is this how they represent us? Laura is the best that we have on the council and we will surely suffer if she is forced to leave. What is wrong with you people???
Monica Otte says
This is disturbing. The Council is dealing with a host of issues and it’s understandable that some citizens have opinions that are different from Mrs. Price’s. But I hope that we as a County can work through these differences without further personal attacks on Mrs. Price or anyone else.
Elizabeth Freedlander says
No matter, how people might disagree with Ms. Price, there is never an excuse for threats or hate mail. It undoes our democratic right to free speech and negates the opportunity to learn from individuals whose opinion is different from ours.
