The Friends of the Talbot County Free Library begins its 2016 Brown Bag lunch series at the Easton branch on Thursday, January 21, 12 noon, with an important and informative program about the latest expansion and services at Talbot Hospice. Joining us will be Susan Piggott, President, Talbot Hospice Board of Directors, and Dr. Michael Tooke, Talbot Hospice Medical Director.
Susan Piggott was named President of the Talbot Hospice Board of Directors in July, 2014. She served as Volunteer Coordinator at Talbot Hospice from 2009 – 2013. Prior to joining Talbot Hospice, Ms. Piggott was Head of the National Child Research Center in Washington, DC, Admission Director of The Park School in Baltimore, and Interim Head of the Lowell School in Washington, DC. She earned two Masters degrees, one in Educational Leadership from the University of New Orleans and one in Communication Disorders from Northwestern University. Ms. Piggott is a Talbot Mentor and has been a CASA volunteer. She recently served on the Boards of the Wye River Upper School and Shore Leadership.
Dr. Michael Tooke was named Talbot Hospice’s first medical director in November, 2014. As Medical Director, he is responsible for the medical component of the hospice Interdisciplinary Team. Prior to joining Talbot Hospice, Dr. Tooke was Senior Vice President & Chief Medical Officer of University of Maryland Shore Regional Health. Previously, Dr. Tooke served as Sr VP & CMO of Delmarva Foundation, the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization for Maryland and the District of Columbia, and as President of MedStar Physician Partners, the physician network of MedStar Health. Dr. Tooke earned his Medical Degree from Tulane Medical School. Board-certified in Internal Medicine, Dr. Tooke is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, and a lifetime member of the American College of Physician Executives. Dr. Tooke has earned a Graduate Certificate in Leadership Coaching from George Washington University, and is a certified Motorola Six Sigma Green Belt.
The program is free and open to the public. Patrons are invited to bring a lunch. Light refreshments will be served.
