The Friends of the Talbot County Free Library will host a memorable musical program at noon on Thursday, May 19, 2016, at the Easton Branch of the Talbot County Free Library. Talented musician Judy Amdur will be the special guest for this program.
The American Songbook consists of the popular songs written by the great composers and lyricists of the 1930s through the mid 1960s. They come from Broadway, Hollywood and songs that were hits on their own. What sets them apart is the quality of the words and the music, and the perfect blending of both. These composers were storytellers, poets and masters of rhythm and language. They could produce many moods, particularly romantic, and provide wisdom, solace and memories. Judy Amdur will talk about these artists, sing some of their songs and reflect on their timeless appeal.
As a Speech Language Therapist for the Head Start Program in Fairfax County, Mrs. Amdur used music and drama to expand children’s language. Now she continues to sing with young children around the county informally, and for the Mental Health Association’s “Kids on the Block” character building program. She has appeared with local theater groups in several musicals and brings her keyboard to Hospice. She loves to listen to all kinds of music, and loves to sing the enduring songs of the “American Songbook.”
Please feel free to bring your lunch and enjoy beverages and sweets provided by the Friends of the Talbot County Free Library. The program is free and open to the public.
