Nuclear stress testing will be offered at Shore Health System’s Shore Medical Pavilion (SMP) in Queenstown, Md., beginning May 14, 2013.
The new service at Shore Medical Pavilion will be conducted under the direction of Tim Shanahan, DO, medical director, cardiovascular diagnostics at SMP; Gary Bigelow, director of imaging for Shore Health; and Gary Jones, FACCA, director of the Department of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Services, Shore Health System. Current cardiovascular diagnostic services at the Medical Pavilion include EKG/ECG, cardiac/vascular ultrasound, routine exercise stress test, Holter monitor testing, and stress ECHO.
“With more than 2,000 nuclear stress tests administered at Memorial Hospital in Easton, Dorchester General Hospital and Chesapeake Cardiology each year, the addition of nuclear stress testing at Shore Medical Pavilion will make scheduling this test faster for all patients and much more convenient for those living in Queen Anne’s County,” notes Shanahan.
As a diagnostic tool for coronary artery disease and other heart problems, a nuclear stress test helps diagnose and treat coronary artery disease. It is an essential tool in evaluating possible causes of chest pain and shortness of breath. For patients who already are diagnosed with a heart condition, a nuclear stress test may be recommended to assist in treatment plan design.
All cardiac testing at Shore Medical Pavilion takes place on the third floor, where Chesapeake Cardiology Shore Health also is located. In addition to Dr. Shanahan, Chesapeake Cardiology physicians are John Condit, DO; Scott Friedman, MD; Robert Hanna, Jr., MD; and Christadoss Rajasingh, MD.
