The Eastern Shore Writers Association (ESWA) is pleased to offer a workshop on “Plotting and Structuring a Novel,” from 9 a.m. – noon Jan. 24, 2015 in Seaford, Delaware at the Holiday Inn Express. Members of ESWA and non-members are welcome to participate.

The workshop is suitable for all levels of writers. It will be equally helpful to those who have written a draft, are in the middle of a work in process or who would just like to plan out a story idea.

Ramona DeFelice Long, independent editor and online writing instruction, will lead the workshop. Long will focus on the classic Three Act Structure: Act 1, a strong opening that introduces the promise of the story; Act 2, engages a reader with a plot that moves and characters who develop and grow; and Act 3, a logical story conclusion and emotionally satisfying ending.

Long’s writing has appeared in literary, regional and juvenile publications, including The Delmarva Review, The Arkansas Review, TOSKA, Literary Mama, Lunch Ticket, CRICKET, Delaware Beach Life, and the anthologies, Extraordinary Gifts: Remarkable Women of the Delaware Valley, Someone Wicked and Stories from the Ink Slingers. She has been awarded artist fellowships and scholarships from the Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, the Delaware Division of the Arts, the Pennsylvania State Arts Council, the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, Philadelphia Stories and the Rehoboth Beach Writers Guild.  She is a member of the Eastern Shore Writers Association, Newark Arts Alliance, Delaware Arts Alliance, Pennwriters and Sisters in Crime. Long maintains a literary blog at ramonadef.wordpress.com

Th workshop is $30 for ESWA members and $40 for non-members. Contact [email protected] to register or if you have any questions. There is limited attendance so please register early.

The Eastern Shore Writers’ Association (ESWA), including the ESWA Education Fund, holds monthly writing programs, sponsors the Bay to Ocean Writers Conference, publishes The Delmarva Review and manages the Delmarva Book Prize, along with other educational programs. As nonprofit organizations, they support writers and the literary arts across the Delmarva Peninsula. For more information, see the ESWA website www.easternshorewriters.org, or email Gerald F. Sweeney at [email protected].
