The Talbot County Miles River Sail and Power Squadron, in conjunction with the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office recently conducted a prescription drug turn in program. The event was hosted by the staff and members of the Talbot County Senior Center in Easton. The program generated 41 pounds of prescription medications that were turned in for destruction. Over 100 people participated in, or expressed interest in this opportunity. Squadron Commander Mike Newnam viewed the event as a success, stating “Any prescription drugs surrendered in this manner keep them out of our waterways, and in turn directly improve the quality of our local rivers and streams.” Future prescription drug turn in programs are slated for all day on November 17, and will take place at the Easton Safeway and the St. Michaels Fire Department.
