ANNAPOLIS, December 18, 2013 – Delegate Steven J. Arentz officially filed with the Maryland State Board of Elections as candidate for election as Maryland State Delegate serving the 36th District of Queen Anne’s, Caroline, Cecil and Kent counties.
“I am proud to announce my formal candidacy for Delegate to continue to serve friends, neighbors and businesses in District 36,” said Arentz, who was sworn into the office of Delegate on November 19th. Arentz was competitively selected to replace Delegate Stephen S. Hershey, Jr., who succeeded retiring E.J. Pipkin as State Senator.
A local business owner and resident of Grasonville, Arentz had previously served as President of the Queen Anne’s County Commissioners.
“I am looking forward to facing the challenges we have on the Upper Shore and ensuring that we get the appropriate level of representation,” Delegate Arentz said.
Arentz and his fellow members of the Maryland General Assembly will have little time to campaign following the legislative session, as Maryland’s primary elections have been moved up to June 2014. Delegate Arentz says he expects a busy and productive 2014 session.
