Rumor had it that some kind of vintage car museum was opening up in the old swap meet building on Hwy 50 just north of the by-pass near the airport. We drove by several times, and saw some antique sportscars in the window. On Saturday, people streamed into the building for a second weekend of a Porsche-O-Rama created by Bruce Wakefield, who opened CPR – Vintage Porsche Restoration Center last weekend. The event was a word-of-mouth affair.
Less a museum than strictly a Porsche (only) restoration shop, Wakefield and his team are focused upon restoring the vintage sportscars to perfection. Wakefield said that a friend with a similar business for 39 years on the West Coast asked him to open an east coast shop. It took a while to find the perfect location, but he did, at 9329 Ocean Gateway. With two showrooms in front, an office and multiple work bays in the rear, this shop can handle some serious restoration projects.
Some of the cars are there for show, others are for sale. This is a shop for collectors, with price tags to match. Stay tuned for an profile on Wakefield and his team – until them – take a look at some of the vintage sportscars on display.
