Talbot County Public Schools recognized four employees who have achieved 20 years of service at the October Board of Education meeting: Ms. Peggy Brooks, Ms. Susan Ortt, Ms. Christine Duncan and Ms. Michelle Swann.
“Every staff member in Talbot County Public schools is valued and deserves celebration every day,” said Dr. Helga Einhorn, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction.“However, each year we reserve a special recognition for those staff members who have reached 20 years of dedicated service to the students of Talbot County Public Schools. This year it is my honor to share with you the distinguished staff who have met this milestone and who have had a positive impact on our organization and those within it.”
Ms. Peggy Brooks is currently a personal assistant at Easton High. She has a deep understanding of student needs and works diligently and with the utmost care to help foster student success, and also provides assistance in the self-contained special education classroom.
Ms. Susan Ortt serves as the Information Systems Specialist at the Talbot County Education Center. Her primary responsibility is data management and reporting for payroll, staff attendance, human resource platforms. She plays a key role in the overall efficiency of operations for TCPS.
Ms. Christine Duncan began her career with TCPS as an art teacher at Easton High, and also served as athletic director. She transferred to St. Michaels Middle High to inaugurate a new program aimed at bolstering the success of first generation college students. She now uses her expertise as a mentor teacher supporting non-tenured teachers at SMMHS.
Ms. Michelle Swann is currently a special education teacher at Easton Middle, providing specialized instruction in the cotaught classroom. She has also been a staff member at St. Michaels Middle High and Easton High, where she served as a transition facilitator.
