On May 29, Deputies from the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office stopped a motorcycle on Ocean Gateway near Lomax Street for exceeding 90 mph in a 55 mph zone. The motorcycle was stopped in the town of Easton with the assistance of Easton Police Department. As the Deputy was attempting to stop the motorcycle, he observed the operator throw a small baggie on the side of the roadway. The Deputy was able to retrieve the baggie, identifying the baggie as containing marijuana. As a result, the operator, Carlton Matthew Stephenson 3rd, 20 of Jessup, MD was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, exceeding the posted speed limit and operating a vehicle with expired registration. The passenger, Dustin Ireland Farris, 18 of Columbia, MD was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia. Stephenson and Farris were taken before a District Court Commissioner and ordered held on $5,000.00 bond each.
