The Spy and the Avalon Foundation will continue their tradition of hosting town hall meetings for local election candidates on April 29th at 6 p.m. at the Avalon Theatre. Once again, Spy Columnist Craig Fuller will moderate an informative discussion of the issues and opportunities to improve the Town of Easton.
Candidates for Town of Easton Council President, Don Abbatiello and the incumbent Frank Gunsallus, have agreed to participate. The Avalon and Spy will be reaching out to the candidates for Ward 2 and Ward 4 Council seats to welcome them as well. Those include Rev. Elmer Davis, Moonyene Jackson, and Cameron Keefe for Ward 4, and Lynette Keefe and Robert Rankin for Ward 2.
The program is anticipated to last 60 minutes. It will be live-streamed on Mid-Shore Community Television’s YouTube channel and the Spy’s Facebook channel. Attendance at the Avalon will be on a first-come basis, and admission will be free.

It appears the Wards & candidate names are mixed up.
I live in Easton in Ward 2 where Robert Rankin is running.
Rev. Davis currently represents Ward 4 & as I recall Moonyene Jackson lives in Ward 4 as well.
Glenn Thomas says
I dare the Talbot Spy to put these rules in.
No mobile devices or notes can be in use during the town hall. If you are running, you should know the issues and where you stand on them without aids.
Every town council meeting, Frank Gunsallus reads off his phone or a sheet of paper, which is alarming. We want to know about the candidate’s viewpoint who is running for the seat. Not Shari Wilcoxon’s, Frank’s daddy, his handlers or others in the crowd who text him answers and talking points. We want to see him without training wheels on.
No campaign signs within 500 feet of the venue.
It’s really annoying to get clogged with propaganda at the fire hall for voting, much less the Avalon for a community town hall. Give it a rest. We’ll learn about you inside the venue. Your dumb signs influence nobody.
These two rules will help make this a fair and informative town hall.
Amanda Clever says
Amen! I second those rules!!!
The Town has a sign ordinance and it is very clear our Council President has violated most of it. How is that ok?
Love for him to answer who is funding his campaign, how about a deep dive on that Spy? The “law and order” crowd only seems to apply the law when it fits their narrative.
Tony Maldonado says
“Law and order” is funny especially because our Sheriff is endorsing a convicted felon who was in prison for drug trafficking. Surprised nobody has published a mugshot of our council president. That’s a public record.
