May 4, 2015 by Dave Wheelan

Share

There was a packed crowd at the Talbot County Free Library on early Thursday evening for a forum with candidates running for mayor, as well as open Easton Council seats for the 1st and 3rd wards.  The event, sponsored by the League of Women Voters, included questions on the Easton Airport, drugs, greater employment opportunities in Easton, and the town’s future role as a regional shopping destination.

Three candidates are in the running for Easton’s mayor — the current incumbent Robert “Bob” Willey, and former councilman Moonyene Jackson-Amis, and write in candidate Ad Duer.

Two candidates are vying for the Ward 1 town council seat, which will be vacated by council member Kelley Malone. The candidates for Ward 1 are former state delegate and Talbot County Councilman Phillip Foster and Talbot County Chamber of Commerce President Al Silverstein.

Two candidates are running for the Ward 3 council seat, which will be vacated by Councilman Len Wendowski. The Ward 3 candidates are Ron Engle and Duane Hilghman.

The Spy was there to pick up the highlights of these questions.
