Perhaps like most projects with this kind of complexity, the YMCA of the Chesapeake has been on quite a roller-coaster since they started talking to Queen Anne’s County eight years ago about creating a facility in Centreville. With more than its fair of reversals and setbacks, including a recession and three different sets of county commissioners, Y leadership has remained steadfast though this long process to find a way forward.
Last week, that patience paid off with the announcement at the last QAC Commissioner meeting of the year that the County was would donate the land across the street from Queen Anne’s County High School to the YMCA to allow the building project to begin.
