An important step took place Monday afternoon in Talbot County’s efforts to discuss and approve its 2015 Comprehensive Plan. Fifteen community leaders* were invited by the Talbot County Council to provide feedback to the current draft plan and make recommendations or changes to the document.
While there was a good bit of dialogue that took place between the council members and their guests on specific parts of the plan, the Spy decided to focus on the comments and suggestions made by the panel during the three-hour work session. Those remarks centered around protecting western Talbot County along Route 33 from unwanted and unsustainable development, redefining internet broadband coverage challenges, and adding language that highlights the need to move forward with building a new regional hospital next to Easton Airport.
Dan Watson leads off the discussion with a short map presentation on the rural nature of the western side of Talbot County.
The second session is planned for Monday, December 14, 2015, from 5pm-7pm, at the Talbot County Free Library in Easton. This session will be a public meeting in which the entire community is invited to make comments on the draft plan.
