The St. Michaels Art League juried art exhibit at the A.M. Gravely Gallery in St. Michaels is open to the public throughout the months of June and July. Thirty artists competed with entries judged by Ms. Anke Van Wagenberg, the senior curator at the Academy Art Museum in Easton, to exhibit in the show.
Show organizer, Mr. George Hamilton of St. Michaels, said that it is unusual for the Art League to hold juried shows. “Most off our events are a first entry basis, although we seek to accommodate as many League members as possible. This is different; artists submitted two works each for consideration. The juror selected those to be included in the Exhibit. We thank the Gravely Gallery for hosting this show. It is a wonderful new exhibit space for St. Michaels.”
A reception, open and free to the public, will be held on June 4, from 5 to 7 PM. The A.M. Gravely Gallery is located at 408 S. Talbot Street in St. Michaels. Gallery hours are 10am to 6pm from Friday to Sunday, and 10am to 3pm on Monday and Tuesday.
Anyone interested in the visual arts are welcome to join the St. Michaels Art League. Meetings are held starting at 9:30am on the third Monday of each month from September through May at the Christ Church Parish Hall in St. Michaels. For more information, visit the web site at www.smartleague.org. Art League events are sponsored in part by the Talbot County Arts Council.
